Hi Ann – Many of our customers do use Pawz for their pets for hiking. Please note that these boots were designed and developed for dog walks and romps in the dog run. Because these boots are made of natural rubber they do “break down”. As a result, you may be required to use multiple pairs on your hike for maximum protection. Prior to your journey I would recommend that your dog wears Pawz for a few walks to ensure proper sizing and clip toe nails to minimize puncturing the boots. Which ever boot you decide to use we applaude you for protecting your “best friends” paws!!!

Hi, We are looking for some paw protection for use while hiking in the Sierras. Would these be helpful? Your list of applications doesn’t really include this so I thought I would check. The terrain can be rough and our labs feet have gotten torn up in the past. Thank you

I bought Pawz for my dog for traction control. He was having problems with his back legs & was falling on our tile floor. I put them on him & he has not fallen at all. He doesn’t even know they are on him & he is making some traction. Love them! Question, I am concerned about circulation because they seem tight at the top. I bought a large & my dogs paws are 3.5″. There is plenty of room in the paw area but was concerned about the top. He doesn’t have circulation problems but don’t want these to cause any.

Barkley is a bullmastiff that is a therapy dog for Hospice of the Valley and the VA hospital. He has had problems with the slick floors and refused to walk into some patients rooms for fear of falling. I have tried several other boots and he hated them and wouldn’t walk in them (bullmastiffs are know for their stubbornness) Within 5 min. of putting on your boots he was walking on the tile floors. He is a hit at the nursing homes in his colorful boots. Other therapy volunteers have now bought them to help their dogs from slipping in hospitals. Thank you so much – plus it helps in the Scottsdale 100 degree weather.

Hi Susan – Thank you so much for your interest in PAWZ dog boots. We have many customers who use our product successfully as a barrier to protect their dogs paws from extremely hot asphalt. Please monitor your dog while wearing the boots as one of the great attributes of our product is that it is waterproof and therefore this product should not be left on for extended periods as the dog sweats through his paws. Each breed and dog is different — you will know the appropriate amount of time for your pooch. From your note you are obviously concientious as to the best times and the “coolest” hours to walk your greyhound. We hope this helps you to make an educated decision if this product is right for you and will provide the solution you seek.
    Stay Cool!!

I stumbled upon Pawz on ebay while looking for dog boots for our greyhound, Kai. The ebay seller thought they would be OK for our 100+ degree days of summer here in Mesa, AZ, but suggested we contact you directly to see if there were some comments from other AZ dog owners. We walk often before 6AM and after 11PM to beat the heat, but asphalt really holds it in and I worry she may damage her pads without protection. Any help would be appreciated.

We live in NYC — As a result of the city putting down tons of salt on the sidewalks due to the refreezing of the melted snow, our Welsh Corgis’ paws became extremely sore. They became so sore that they started bleeding…. :-(
Really upset by this.. I went on line to find a solution.
I came across your website and literally ran to the pet store that carried your product.

We used PAWZ for the first time for our evening walk. They slipped on easily.. We were amazed that they did not fall off!! All I can say is Wow!
Our two dogs- Maggie and Murry were so happy. They were running and playing. The salt and extreme cold were no longer a bother to their little paws !! Your product is amazing..!!

    Thank you so much ……

My dog has worn Pawz this past month on one paw due to having a nail removed. We live in Finland and can’t tell you how lucky we are that we got some Pawz in the States over new year’s in time for our little emergency. The foot cover keeps the snow and sand out and, like other fans, allows my pooch to romp around when other products haven’t worked. Thanks tons!

my pomeranian , bear, wears an x-small and he doesn’t have ANY problem with them!! i put them on him when it’s snowing or for ice melting salt. they even give him traction on hard wood and linoleum floors, which he normally slips and slides all over. they’re alot less restricting than real boots. i like that he can feel the ground under his feet with these and i think that he does too! thanks for this great product! :) :):)

Two years ago I searched for boots for my late 16 year old Irish setter, primarily for traction. Sadly, I never did find Pawz. Two weeks ago I was on a new quest – boots for mud. My yard has many places where the dogs have worn paths in the grass, so when it rains there is a ton of mud. Regardless of how well I tried to wipe off their feet when they came in, there was still a residual amount left which while their paws were still damp tracked up the floors and when dry, turned into a thick coat of dust all over the entire house.

I have a five year old female Irish setter, 65# and a two year old male Irish setter, 85#. As soon as I discovered Pawz boots
I bought four boxes of Large for the female and four boxes of X-Large for the male. Nails trimmed and filed I put the boots on them with no problem. I do love these boots and have recommended them to my family, friends and veterinarian. I love the bright colors!

My toy poodle loves his Pawz boots! When it’s really cold, I put little socks under the boots for extra warmth. He was a bit uncomfortable at first wearing the Pawz boots, but a couple of treats later, he was fine. Give your dog a chance to get used to wearing them. Now with a cold, snowy winter, he loves his boots. I don’t think that he likes taking his walk without them. My only wish to make an almost perfect product perfect, would be for the boots to come in black….in all sizes.

    Brilliant Product! Cheers, Laura

Hi Jean – dogs of every size and breed have been using PAWZ Dog Boots for many years, even dogs that are picky. Most picky dogs need boots without padding so they can feel the texture of the ground they are walking on in order to feel secure. They won’t tolerate boots that restrict their paw range of motion. Dogs that won’t wear conventional boots love PAWZ.

Your question about the the size’s of PAWZ boots is a good one! I suggest our XX-Small boots based on weight but best way to determine the proper size is to measure the dog’s paw from the back of the large pad to the front of the longest toe pad. The dog’s nails should be properly trimmed for safety and to prevent puncturing. You know that there are Poodle/Mix of all sizes, and shapes – young, old, thin, robust, male & female. So we made Tiny, XX-Small and X-Small boots to cover all the bases. Owners of all breeds need to know the dimensions and then make an informed choice. You’ll find the heel to toe dimensions on the back of each package. PAWZ are designed to fit snug on the lower leg so they don’t fall off and loose around the paw itself.

We appreciate hearing from you as your question will help many owners make the proper choice for their dogs.

    Hello,

Just found your PAWZ product and am definitely going to order some or find some close by to buy. I have two small poodle mixed breeds, both under 10 lbs. They are both white and in this weather they come in from outside with black feet, and since the neighbor has gotten a new dog or two, they have taken to digging at the fence while barking at the new neighbors and come in with dirt clod packed feet, I think we are going to love PAWZ. My question relates to sizing. Would they be small? X small? Tiny? My guess would be x small, I am guessing they are about the size of a Pom like I said they are both in 9 lb. range.

I just found out about and purchased PAWZ for my 13 year-old “baby,” Colonel. These boots are WONDERFUL, and Colonel tolerates them beautifully! PAWZ boots stayed on even after walking in snow covering them, after kicking his back legs in the snow/grass, after running, and after going up 5 flights of stairs. (All of the previously mentioned acts were done during one typical 30 minute walk, and the boots were never readjusted.) Importantly, Colonel is able to walk without favoring his front paw which has a tear in the skin between his pads. Tonight I did not carry him across salted streets; it was as if the salt was not there when we crossed!

Having a one-to-one correspondence between PAWZ colors and size is a great idea to avoid confusion for those who have multiple pets.

I have a border collie that competes in agility. My problem is that her paws are very tender and sometimes when we are practicing her contacts she will burn/tear off the top layer or so of the large pad at the back of her foot. While I feel certain your Pawz would be good for putting on her feet AFTER she has skinned her pad, I was wondering if they would be any good for preventing the injury in the first place? Do you think they would stay on while she was doing agility? She is VERY FAST and turns very quickly — therefore twisting the foot on the contact and tearing/burning it. She used to have very good contact performance but now she doesn’t want to stop and hold like she was trained to do – I’m sure partly because of these recurring injuries. Lately I have been wrapping her front feet with vet wrap before each practice session to protect her feet, but they only last a couple of runs before they come off. She’s constantly injuring her little feet!
    What do you think?

Hi Dominique – PAWZ are not designed for extreme conditions like the one you described. They could be useful as an under layer for a overboot of different material. Dogs that hate conventional boots love PAWZ because they feel secure feeling the ground and textures they are walking on. That is why a strong but thin, waterproof boot (PAWZ) is so successful with both dogs and their owners.

If you provide an address I’ll be happy to send you some boots for an exciting torture test.

    Hi Folks;
We purchased the boots at a dog show in San Francisco..
My 13 yr old Boxer “TinkerBell” has paws that are breaking down due to age. These boots provide her with protection against everything outside that she would normally step on or into. With snow just a few days away I am trying to locate a supplier for us purchase additional boots for our 2 other Boxers.
As a footnote, when you first get the boots try putting a little bit of baby powder inside of each. Rub it around then turn the boot inside out and due it again. This helps to keep the boots pliable and stops them from sticking to each other.
It would be great if you could order the boots directly from the vendor. Am awaiting a reply from Gary the product supplier.

My 11-year old German Shorthaired Pointer is having trouble with traction on our hardwoods. Two problems here: 1) potential for injury from falls, and 2) damage to our hardwood floors. We have addressed this by using (UGLY) non-skid area rugs to cover practically any “dog path”. PAWZ addresses both issues wonderfully! Unfortunately, it’s not a perfect solution, since they can’t be left on for extended periods and he has the run of the house. I agree with the earlir poster–a ventilated PAWS boot would be ideal. Anything in the works?

Pawz are great and we sell quite a few in our shop and online. One of our most interesting Pawz cases is about Tula, a Doxie, who is allergic to grass. She cannot even walk on wet or damp services because she develops a terrible yeast infection. So everday, she waits patiently while her owner puts on her booties!

Hi Sharron – Thank you for your comments. Many veterinarians recommend making small holes in PAWZ boots to allow air in when using indoors. The best guide for how much time to leave them on is to take the boots off when the dog is dormant or sleeping for hours. You should monitor the situation to determine how comfortable the dog is after several hours. Every dog is different and you need to make an educated judgement.

Also, I understand they can’t be left on 24-7, but please tell me the safest maximum number of hours when indoors with air conditioning (Florida in the summer…)Maybe you could make a style for indoor use that is ventilated? I just want to say how great the Pawz boots are. I have a 5-year-old golden retriever who has a bad hip; he has recently become terrified with tile floors and stairs. He was having problems going down the stairs, mostly because he would slide and he did not have a lot of control over his back legs. After just wearing the Paw Boots twice going down the stairs he is doing great, he has no issues at all; he is finally actually willing and happy to go down the stairs to go outside without 30 minutes of bribery. He is not hesitating to go down as before they have given a lot of traction. Thank you so much. I only wish you made more neutral colors like tan or more dog-friendly bendable colors (i.e. black, tan, cream, white). The large size only comes in purple many people keep commenting on how ridiculous he looks with purple boots.

My boy even likes to wear them to play fetch in the house (we have tile and hardwood throughout) because he no longer slids into doors and walls! He was a little afraid of trying yet another boot, but he loves them and welcomes the chance to wear them indoors (for play only) or out!!!

Hi Anne – PAWZ boots are designed to be waterproof and like a dish glove the boots retain the dogs heat and sweat. This is not a problem over the course of hours but you wouldn’t want to keep them on all day. The dog’s paw needs to breath.

I hope this is helpful. Thanks for posting.

Bo Obama is one hot dog! Portuguese Water Dogs are sure to be very popular right now. You can see one playing in the water on our website http://www.pawzdogboots.com. Just click on “Photos & Video Gallery.” He’s the black dog just came out of the water getting his Red boots on. You’ll see all kinds of breeds playing at Dog Beach in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. These dogs are wearing PAWZ for the first time and they’re loving them.

    Enjoy the show!

Since dogs are sweating from their paws, i’m wondering if you ever had a case of fungal infection led by your product? I think it is a really great inovation but if the boots are waterproof, they wont let the dog’s paws breath right?

Please let me know what you found out about that,

    Thank you

Ok, seriously! My mom pulled me out from under my blankets and put my Pawz on my feet this morning to send me out into the rain. It’s like only 40 degrees out there and it’s POURING! I mean, if the expression is “it’s raining cats and dogs” well then this was like it was raining big, fat Maine Coon cats and Neapolitan mastiffs! For real. Just cold rain coming down in heavy sheets and she thinks I am going out there?

And it’s not so much the rain as it is the mud. That clay that passes for dirt down here in TX gets in between my toes and just clumps up all hard. At least with my Pawz on, I can keep my feet warm and dry even after the rain stops and the ground is still mushy…now if only I could keep myself warm and dry in my bed this morning…

Hi Lj – PAWZ disposable boots will help protect the new floor but you can’t have your dog “Huge Baby” wear boots all day long…they’re waterproof and you know that “Huge Baby’s” paws need to breath…try using PAWZ for periods of free-run of the house and restrict him for the rest of the time…see how it goes and use your best judgement. PAWZ will also be useful for outdoor use and will keep your carpets and furniture cleaner too!

Let me know how it works out,

    Gary

Hi Helen – I’ll do my best to help you find an easier way to put PAWZ Dog Boots on your dog. Since you have a small dog you could put her in your lap or on the bed so you don’t have to bend down so much…if she will let you roll her over with her legs up, that would be good too…then stretch the top of the boots real wide (they won’t break) and tuck her paws in and gently release the top…once your dog realizes that the boots are light and flexible she will be comfortable and walk away normally.

Take a minute to look at a video online:

    http://www.gwlittle.com/prod/Product-Types/Travel-Necessities/-HOT-PICKS-_241/Dog-Boots—PawZ–12pk-_1683.aspx

This shows a lady that puts her dog up-side-down on her lap and putting boots on just like I suggested.

I hope this will be helpful,

Hi Meaghan – thanks for your comments. I’m happy that your collection of hounds took to PAWZ Dog Boots so quickly. I’m sure you can find the best size for the Italian Greyhounds (probably our XX-Small if petite or X-Small if average size). You can see one running at the waters edge in a Video on our website http://pawzdogboots.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/pawzdogboots.swf

Our customers love Pawz for protection against the hot sand and scratchy St. Augustine grass we have here in SW Florida.
Also great for improved traction for older dogs on tile floors. I’ve used these on Chester, one of my Labs, to protect sutures on paw pad wound and they were great! Best of all they didn’t bug him and he didn’t get them off. Please call us at 239-542-9663 and we can ship you a set.

I am just wondering whether these boots could be used to protect brand new expensive hardwood floors? Would you consider them thick enough? The poor thing used to have full run of the house and is finding he is running out of space he is allowed to go. He is a huge baby and just wants to be around the family.

We have sold Pawz Dog Boots in our boutique for nine months and our clients just love them. Most dogs don’t like to walk around in those thick, heavy, clunky, awkward boots you find at pet supply stores, but Pawz are different. They really allow the dog to feel the ground and know what they’re walking on, as well as protect the pad from various elements. We love Pawz Dog Boots! We carry all sizes in our Bellevue, WA location. For any help or questions about us or the Pawz Dog Boots, please call us at 425.637.0188. We are located on 106th & Main in the heart of downtown Bellevue, WA.

At first we were a little skeptical, but after using PawZ boots all skepticism went away – and we’re so glad! We’ve never seen dogs take so quickly to wearing boots as they do with PawZ, and when conditions call for it, you’ll be glad when you have some on hand.

These boots are amazing and they perform as described. We captured our dog on video so others could see how well she can walk and even run with them on. The video also shows how easy they go on, and stay on without any additional effort, zippers, or straps.

Kudos to PawZ for providing us these wonderful dog boots!

Pawz have been such a HUGE seller here in Chicago. It seemed like we were going though a whole order every week. Our customers loved them. Being in Chicago, the snow and salt here is absolutely horrendous. But with the PAWZ boots it made it possible to walk our pooches! We may not like the snow and below 0 wind chill, but that doesn’t stop all the dog lovers here. We even had customers who take their dog’s to the dog beach during that time, and they said the boots held up in that type of environment. So thanks to you guys at PAWZ for creating such an awesome product we could pass down to our customers!

Our customers love these boots. Their dogs are able to walk in the snow and slush with no danger to salt or tracking in slushy paw prints. Dog walkers have let us know that every dog they walk wearing these actually like to frolic in the snow more frequently since they don’t feel like they are wearing anything. We carry Pawz Dog Boots in our Chicago store.
People tell me is that they would be lost
    without these boots.

You get 12 in a package and they are definitely reusable. They are invaluable for protection against salt in the city, as well as dirt, ice and rain and snow.

They stay on, are easy to put on and the dogs really don’t mind wearing them…they don’t
feel unstable since they can feel the ground under the boot.

I love these boots!! I have a chihuahua and his little feet get so cold even in the rain. He used to hate to go outsite when it was raining. He would just stand there and shiver, but Pawz Dog Boot have allowed him to feel much more comfortable.

Because these boots work for me, I decided to carry them on my webiste http://www.busterandsullivan.com

We have been selling a lot of them because of the cold winter that we have had around the U.S.

We have carried Pawz for about a year now and have never had a complaint. Only the highest praise from our customers.

Recently we received the following email from a customer: “I am very happy with that pawz booties. Because my Frenchie just had a deep cut in his one paw we made the ultimate practical test and the Pawz got the grade A+!

My vet is also so delighted about them he wants to try them.”

She has just sent in an order for 25 sets of Pawz. All of the order were submitted through her vet. I don’t think there is any higher recommendation than that!

A great product for a reasonable price that does so much. Thank you

My beautiful boxer is almost 9 and was just diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy. Which is the equivalent of ALS in humans.
She is now dragging her toes & has such weakness in her rear legs that she can not move quickly on smooth surfaces.Up until two weeks ago she was still taking l hour walks twice week plus at least 3 other walks a day & running twice a week. The last time she walked she came back with her back feet bleeding. I was devastated I had no idea she had been dragging her toes. The nails were down to the quick. It has progressed so rapidly. She was so depressed she no longer wanted to walk and she would not chase her ball because she was afraid of falling which she had done several times. She was always eager to greet people when they came but she now greeted without her old enthusiasm.

I searched the internet for an answer tried all kinds of booties but nothing helped. Some caused blisters & would not stay on. Others twisted when she walked & the bottoms ended up on the top of her feet.

I didn’t care what the price was I would have done anything to help her keep her dignity as long as possible. Then I talked to Gary at Pawzdogboots day before yesterday & it changed my girls life & mine. I came home put the booties on, they are very light like a balloon(also bought her a new squeaky ball) threw the ball & she cautiously started to chase & then she forgot everything & ran like a pup. No slipping. I cried I was so happy. Today I took her out for her first walk with her pawzbooties and she was able to walk for 45 minutes & would have walked longer but I thought it was enough for the first day. Her toes still dragged but the rubber protected them.

    God bless you Gary,
    Tonjia

My customers and I love your bootz. They are so easy to use and make the dog feel comfortable. My dog used to have shoes that i would have to tackle him to put them on. With the pawz boot he sits patiently and waits for me to put them on and he doesn’t walk funny in them. My dog has had the same pair for 6 months! I have trouble keeping them in stock because they are so easy and so great for dogs that don’t like the cold, have cuts on their feet, have allergies, go on lots of walks…etc. I just love them!

Pawz Dog Boots are a high rated product that we offer. Here’s one of our customer’s reviews for the Pawz Dog Boots – Tiny size:

Well, today marks the third day my IG’s used your booties on our morning 5-miler (on cement and asphalt in downtown Chicago) and other than being a bit dirty from the streets, they are as good as new. Those little things are like Kryptonite. I am impressed. Your booties keep my dogs feet nice and dry – no where near as cold, wet and red as they would be without PAWZ.

We have carried the Pawz boot for quite sometime now and it has proven to be a fantastic product. We keep samples in the shop to try on dogs and customers really seem to like that. This product is far superior to a traditional “boot” for dogs. I highly recommend this product. Feel free to call the store directly at 508-255-4206 or through the website. We ship these all over on a regular basis. Great for summer too with hot pavement and sand!

Our person, Robin, says we carry “Unique Gifts for Pets and Their People Chosen by Discriminating Beagles”…I guess that’s us. Me and Stripe LOVE Pawz but they are even better for all the other dogs that come and see us in our store. If fact today we had a person some in and tell us that the Pointer that owns her is so old that he can’t stand on a wooden floor anymore without slipping. Stripe sold her a pair of Pawz and we hope this helps that sweet dog to enjoy their old age. Here’s a “bark out” for Pawz!”

Our focus at BellasPainRelief.com is on canine health & mobility. The PAWZ dog boot has been a wonderful addition to our store. I personally was sold when my own Great Dane had a growth removed from his paw and I needed a way to keep his paw dry. The XL PAWZ dog boot fit right over the bandages and was the perfect solution!

Before the holidays I was a vendor at Christmas Bazaar sponsored by a local Greyhound Rescue. Some of the Greyhounds had trouble with traction on the linoleum floors. One person purchased the boots for her dog and next thing I knew I was out of large boots and watching all the Grey’s with purple feet, walking confidently around the bazaar without slipping!

Our customers have been extremely happy with the PAWZ product and so are we!

The PAWZ dog boots have been by far our #1 seller this season, by far the best selling boots this year. Our customers prefer these boots due to the fact that they are longlasting and fully protect their dogs feet. Our customers also like the low cost of these boots, especially now during this economic crisis. We have lots of Salt on the sidewalks and streets thanks to the heavy winters we have here in Connecticut-we highly recommend PAWZ dog boots.

  100. Posted March 1, 2009 at 5:57 pm | Permalink

Our customers have given us much positive feedback about PAWZ…they love them. Easy to put on, they stay on, their dogs don’t mind them like they mind the heavy soled booties….they can feel the ground wearing PAWZ, very important. We don’t have cold winters here in Berkeley, Ca, but it has been very, very wet with muddy backyards and parks to contend with. PAWZ cut down on the mess in the house, protect dogs with injuries to their paws, and they look pretty snazzy, too….great price also. I also sell PAWZ for customers taking their dogs into the snowy, cold Sierras.

  101. Posted March 1, 2009 at 5:45 pm | Permalink

We sell lots of PAWZ at our store and have good results with them.
Dogs that won’t accept other booties will wear PAWZ with little resistance.
We’ve had a really rough winter in the Boston area – lots of snow, ice, and way too much salt on the streets.
The PAWZ help the pups stay out longer than they’d be able without any paw protection.

My 5-month-old golden retriever puppy, Riley, played longer in the snow recently because of Pawz – the snow didn’t freeze up in his little paws.

We’re also glad he isn’t suffering from the salt that our neighbors spread all over the sidewalks here in Brooklyn.

I also like using the boots when walking Riley around the streets the snow starts melting or during the rain and the sidewalks become a dirty mess.

I have a great shot of Riley in the purple boots which I’ll send to you guys.

    We both love Pawz!

My little italian greyhound wasn’t to crazy about the actual act of putting them on but once they were on she walked with out a problem. I didn’t have the right size for my two boys that are italian greyhounds also but are bigger than my little girl and they had problem with the salt that my greyhound who was wearing the boots didn’t.
